This washed batch comes from the Kamagogo Coffee Factory, one of four washing stations operated by the Kiru Farmers' Cooperative Society, which has been active in Murang'a County, Kenya, since the 1970s. The cooperative comprises approximately 3,500 smallholder farmers, nearly 1,000 of whom deliver their harvests to the Kamagogo station.
Located at an altitude of 1,800 meters, the region benefits from mineral-rich red volcanic soils. The SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties are carefully cultivated there, hand-harvested, and then wet-processed before slow drying on raised African beds. Committed to sustainability, the cooperative promotes responsible water management, reforestation, and ongoing training for its producers.
This magnificent batch brings us vibrant notes of lime, rhubarb and red currant, with a lovely acidity typical of the Kenyan terroir.
